merci pour le , dreammoth!
i agree with what you said earlier, barely read through tuts, and go for what you feel like or what you're after. i think feeling and a kind of weird eye is all what is needed for fractals. what is in front of us enters in conversation with what we have in mind and we walk along a path of small modifications until it's about ok.
my method in apo: i pushed all the buttons and read the apo maillist that helped me, months after, to discover some secondary, unseen features.
my method in UF: The documentation is perfect. i've done the excellent and complete UF tutorial, then read the whole doc, about two weeks later. Good time there was time spent exploring different formulas & coloring algos and using UF like a fractal phtoshop with layers and transforms...
salut!
The subject is so vast that it’s all too easy to get lost in the deluge of information. I’ve been using Apophysis for a month now and I’ve barely scratched the surface of the software. Ultra Fractal is another fractal generator that I’ve tried and adopted.
My approach has been chaotic so far. I’ve wasted a lot of time going from one tutorial to another, one software to another, drowning in tutorials instead of practicing… And let’s not even mention tips about post-processing in Photoshop or combining fractals in Bryce (disrupted fractals)!
From now on, I’m going to stick to one aspect of fractals at a time. I hope that a more disciplined approach will shorten my learning curve. To help me in this endeavour, I’m compiling a list of *essential* fractal resources (communities, tutorials, parameters, etc.).
I will post the list as a journal entry in the very near future.
I hope that my limited experience (and associated warning) will help other newcomers to better tackle fractal art.
